Glory Revival Awakening by
Keith Miller
I am writing to you not just a note, but a deep stirring and passion in the depths of my heart. The Lord has recently begun stirring a deeper understanding and unction within me to see a national glory revival awakening. Our nation has such a powerful need of an awakening right now. In an awakening, slumber and apathy are shaken off of a generation, and they awaken to the sovereignty and purposes of the Lord for their generation, which will impact the coming generations until the Lord returns. It is very important for us to embrace and pray into this level of awakening in our nation. Psalm 33:10–12 declares, “The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing…. The counsel of the Lord stands forever…. Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord…” (NKJV). The Lord loves to reveal His counsel to each generation.
Isaiah 58:12 shows us that we can see an impact on the foundations of generations that will last until the return of Christ:
Those from among you shall build the old waste places; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in (Isaiah 58:12 NKJV).
We need these three areas of glory revival awakening in the coming days: an awakening to the sovereignty of the Lord, to the full victory of the cross, and to the Lord of the harvest. This note on glory revival awakening is not all-inclusive. There is much to say and study on this aspect of a national revival. In our current society, we are in need of a powerful awakening that literally wakes up a generation to truth that sets us free and impacts the coming generations. “One generation shall praise Your works to another and shall declare Your mighty acts” (Ps. 145:4 NKJV).
It is an amazing thing to see a revival break out from the presence and power of the Lord. In a matter of weeks, months, or a few years, a nation can be changed from decades of spiritual decay and depravity into a new course of societal transformation in the Lord’s purposes. I can say with deep conviction and great expectation in the Lord that we need to see a shift in the atmosphere that will cause people to want to walk and live in greater heights with the Lord (see Eph. 3:18). In that type of atmosphere, people begin to advance in their callings and purposes in the Lord. This will, in turn, have societal transformation impact in their everyday lives.
So the Lord stirred the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son Jehozadok, the high priest, and the spirit of the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of the Lord of hosts, their God (Haggai 1:14 NKJV).
The phrase stirred up in this verse means, in the original Hebrew, “to rouse, awaken, excite, raise up; to incite; to arouse to action; to open one’s eyes.” This same Hebrew word is used 75 times in the Old Testament. It is used to describe how an eagle stirs up its nest (see Deut. 32:11) and also how a musical instrument is awakened or warmed up before it is played (see Ps. 108:2). It’s used in Isaiah 50:4 twice—when the Lord awakens the prophet each morning and when the prophet awakens his ear to hear God’s message (from the Spirit Filled Bible Word Wealth).
The Lord is stirring many in the Body of Christ, deep in the inner person, to press in even more, creating a deeper hunger in the hearts of His people. I know this to be true from what I have observed in our schools. There is a drawing of the Lord for the hungry right now, a deep stirring that brings a cry of Jeremiah 33:3,“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know” (NKJV). This is called holy desperation! The Lord initiates the hunger, and as He stirs up our spirits, we respond by calling out to Him. He answers us by showing us great and mighty things we did not know. The word mighty in this verse means “inaccessible.” It means this revelation was once fortified, fenced in, and we had no access to it, but now it has been opened up so that we can come in. He gives us clearance to come into a place where He reveals mysteries. This creates a deeper longing and hunger in our hearts, as He begins to reveal His plans and thoughts to individuals, churches, regions, and nations.
Let us hold fast our hope in the Lord and His plans for the days ahead. As the Lord stirs up the activation of the Spirit of wisdom and revelation of the Father of glory, in the knowledge of Jesus, many will have renewed strength and expectation in their callings and purpose (see Eph. 1:17–18). Believers will rise up in the radiance of His power, shining with the brilliance of His glory. They will see the earth filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord. They will be about our Father’s business, just as Jesus said, working while it’s still day (see John 9:4). We are called to be people who live in His favor, our lives encircled with His glory to establish the works of our hands. May His beauty, delight, and favor be upon us so that even our children, and those in our daily circle of influence, will see an increase in the majesty of the glory as they behold Him.
I feel so strongly about this. So much will take place in our everyday lives because of His glory and power, as He reveals His beauty and favor through our lives to the culture around us. What is exciting in this, to me, is not just the favor (though I do want and need and ask for increased favor, as so much is accomplished only by His favor). But what is most exciting is His glory and power and presence—His radiance; His joy; the beauty of God so notable on our lives.
Let Your work [the signs of Your power] be revealed to Your servants and Your [glorious] majesty to their children. And let the beauty and delightfulness and favor of the Lord our God be upon us; confirm and establish the work of our hands—yes, the work of our hands, confirm and establish it (Psalm 90:16–17 AMP).
Yes, Lord! With joy, we shake off the dust of the previous and put on the new strength of God’s glory, so that our strength is renewed from the glory of His presence and we obtain and see those things He is orchestrating for the days ahead. We declare: You are sovereign, Lord! Your victory enables us to live as overcomers in the earth, and we are so very grateful for the harvest, Lord!
As I close, let me say to you—Thank you so much for your support! Janet and I are so grateful. You are amazing, and we praise the Lord for your love and heart for the Lord and His work. We send our love and appreciation! Thank you.
Abundant glory awakening to you in Christ Jesus our Lord,
Keith & Janet
